The Living Word Fellowship Education Ministry hosts a local campus of Beacon University Institute of Ministry based in Columbus, Georgia. Beacon University Institute of Ministry specializes in offering courses to satellite campuses such as Living Word. An instructor approved by Beacon teaches each Beacon course. Living Word’s campus opened in April of 1997, and offers a different Theology course each month at Living Word Fellowship, 500 East 19th Street. Courses can be taken for college credit or as a personal enrichment course.
Who enrolls in Beacon? ANYONE! Students who enroll in Beacon University Institute of Ministry come from varied backgrounds. Some students are working toward a diploma while others take classes for personal growth only. Most students have families or full-time jobs. Beacon University Institute of Ministry brings college level courses to you! Teens in their Senior year of high school may also enjoy dual enrollment. When are the classes? The course always consists of a Friday evening session (6:00pm to 10:00pm) along with a Saturday morning session (8:00am to 3:00pm). The format for each course is conducive to people on a busy, tight schedule. For each class the enrolled student receives a book and syllabus. Students earning credit then take an exam. Exams are mailed to Beacon for grading where grades are recorded on an official transcript. Non-credit students are not required to complete any out of class assignments.
Are the Classes taught at a quality level? The classes are exceptional in quality! Instructors are chosen based on their knowledge and expertise of the subject being taught. From around the nation, Beacon University Institute of Ministry campuses report that the classes have not only enriched their knowledge of the subject matter but made a significant impact on their spiritual walk.
How does a person enroll in Beacon? Anyone may sign up for a course at any time. Students wanting to take a class for credit should sign up at least a week in advance to obtain course material for study, a simple application form must be completed for each new student however, there is no waiting period before taking a class.
